The Empowerment Hub
Overview
The purpose of this course is to introduce both adults and high school students to real-world business education, emphasizing financial literacy and workforce readiness. A central component of the program will feature instruction based on the business book You Are A Business, which provides essential knowledge in personal finance, employment, and “business of you” principles. In addition, participants will receive hands-on training in completing key federal and state employment forms, including the IRS Form W-4 and its state equivalents.
Purpose and Rationale
Every year, thousands of individuals—both recent high school graduates and adults entering or re-entering the workforce—face challenges understanding basic employment forms, taxes, and business fundamentals. This gap in financial and workplace knowledge can lead to costly mistakes, missed opportunities, and long-term financial stress.
By offering a focused, two-day business education course, we can:
-
Provide participants with a practical understanding of how employment, payroll, and taxes work in the real world.
-
Teach individuals how to accurately complete federal and state W-4 forms and related employment documents.
-
Introduce the core principles of personal business and financial literacy that empower both students and adults to manage their careers and finances with confidence.
Conclusion
Preparing individuals for life beyond the classroom or training environment is not just beneficial—it’s essential. A business and workforce readiness course built around a relevant book and practical tax training will empower both high school students and adults with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed—on their first day of employment and throughout their careers.
